Marvel Studios has released the highly anticipated trailer for “Daredevil: Born Again,” offering fans a glimpse into the latest adventures of the Man Without Fear. The teaser not only updates us on Matt Murdock’s journey but also delivers a thrilling nod to Luke Cage, marking a significant moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The inclusion of Luke Cage in the trailer is a noteworthy event. Although the original Netflix Marvel series—Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Punisher, Defenders, and Daredevil—were initially set in the MCU, they existed in a somewhat ambiguous space. Kevin Feige’s cautious approach to integrating these shows into the official MCU narrative led many to believe that they were not fully canon. However, with the rise of Marvel Television and Disney+, there seems to be a shift in this stance.
“Daredevil: Born Again” reintroduces familiar faces, with Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio returning as Wilson Fisk. Jon Bernthal is also set to debut as Frank Castle, adding more depth to the series. Rumors about Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones making a comeback have circulated, but there’s been little mention of Finn Jones’ Iron Fist or Mike Colter’s Luke Cage—until now.
Keen observers spotted a subtle yet significant detail in the trailer: a billboard for Harlem’s Paradise during a New Year’s Eve scene in Times Square, where Mayor Fisk is addressing the public. This iconic club, a central location in the “Luke Cage” series, was last seen in the hands of Cage following Mariah Dillard’s demise.
The appearance of Harlem’s Paradise hints that Luke Cage, also known as Power Man, may still be active in the MCU. While this Easter egg doesn’t confirm Colter’s return, it suggests that his character exists in the universe.
“Daredevil: Born Again” follows Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer with extraordinary abilities, as he navigates his dual life fighting for justice in New York. Meanwhile, former mob boss Wilson Fisk embarks on his own political ambitions, setting the stage for an inevitable showdown between the two.
